CHEMIKILLER (Usa) - Ancient Demons - MC

Review from Hellpike (Ger) #15:
Chemikiller is a well-known name for me since their split 7"EP release with Toxic Holocaust. Their contribution was okay, but these tracks here are nothing but (chemi-)killer. Chemikiller play a kind of evil thrash metal. Just listen to the unholy bells on the opener "Guardian of the Gates". That is nothing new, but when it fits perfectly it is a good underline/background for good songs. "Ancient Demons" is a compilation of some of their releases. The sound is well-done and 13 tracks are featured. The music itself reminds me to songs of old culthordes like VENOM, AT WAR and VIRGIN SIN. Black/Thrash metal as it was meant to be, yet with a great weird touch (esp. the vocals). Chemikiller is a one man band and Ryan (aka Ramrod) shows the same skills like Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust. To the own tracks you also will get some coverversions of VENOM (Welcome to Hell), CELTIC FROST (Dethroned Emperor), CARNIVORE (Angry Neurotic Catholics) and BATHORY (Hades). These cover-versions sound quite weird, but okay. Some of these songs got worse versions from other bands in the past. The solo guitar is used quite often; they are in a rock'n'roll style like to ones of the Blizzard guitarist. "Ancient Demons" got compiled and released by Final Punishment, a fine Underground label from the Netherlands. The tape (Xeroxed cover, underground layout) is limited to 300 copies. You should move your ass if you want that tape.
